Service Experts Donates Over 300 Pounds of Food to Minnie's Food Pantry

August 20, 2016

The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was honored to give 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.

“Last year, I had the ability to get a group of people to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are an essential part of this community.”

Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they are given to create nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume support along with budgeting and job classes to help families get back on their feet.

Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.

“Each member of the team was so thrilled that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their incredible facility,” Wilson said.
